She’s Out of My League

There are definitely some movies that are not as great as I rate them to be. My personal preferences, life experiences, and overall enjoyment levels might just not be where yours are. We’re all different, SO BACK OFF. I like some shit you might not, I hate some things you probably love.

Take this movie. “She’s Out of My League” features a likable and awkward Jay Baruchel as Kirk, TJ Miller as Kirk’s friend Stainer, Krysten Ritter as Patty, and Alice Eve as Molly who might be the most vibrantly and unbelievably beautiful human being ever to grace this earth. Nate Torrence also plays another one of Kirk’s friends who is a lovably silly innocent type.

Kirk is an airport security officer who meets Molly while he is struggling with moving on from a breakup. Molly seems interested in Kirk despite the fact that she might be the most astoundingly gorgeous creature ever to exist on this mortal plane, and Kirk is like a 5 on a good day as far as I can tell. Kirk’s friends endlessly try to get him to be realistic in everything and still do encourage him (especially in pursuing Molly after a while), and Molly’s friend Patty can’t really wrap her head around Molly’s interest in Kirk either.

There are many trials and tribulations and will they/won’t theys as the two stars try and work it and get together despite the obvious questions that arise from their apparent mismatch between Kirk’s insecurities and Molly’s being the most splendidly attractive and alluring girl in this universe whose face could launch a million ships.

Obviously they have their obstacles, one of Molly’s exes intrudes into her budding relationship with Kirk and there are also some misunderstandings that arise to drive them apart.

I think what I like best about this movie is the theme/message of what it’s all about. Be yourself and believe in yourself, and if fucking Alice Eve is saying she’s interested in you it’s natural to feel like you’re being punk’d at first but if it carries on long enough just fucking go with it and savor every waking minute of it. My god.

This movie, to me, is a perfect comedy. It has its humor, romantic moments, sad times, and empathy for the characters within. This movie makes me laugh. This movie makes me root for the characters. It makes me feel overwhelmed and overjoyed at the same time. It’s the best. Check it out, it’s free on Amazon Prime Video.
